We listen and help you to heal
I've been a therapist for nearly 30 years. Early in my career I worked in the addictions field. I noticed that for many of my clients, their psychological issues were contributing to their addictions. Addressing these issues was tricky because it could bring on difficult feelings that could lead to wanting to use. I was introduced to internal family systems therapy, which offered a way to effectively work with these underlying issues in a gentle careful manner that would not trigger self-destructive behaviors.
For the past nine years I've been in private practice primarily working with adults and using Internal Family System therapy as my primary method. During that period I've had extensive training then earned my IFS certification in 2018.
I've worked in a number of fields, including doing carpentry and teaching grade 1 to 7 in Waldorf schools. Working as a therapist is my favorite. I enjoy being with the people I work with and playing some role in helping them to find a way to live a better life. On the systemic level I think that personal healing makes a small contribution to making the world a better place.
I have five children, three of whom are stepchildren. I enjoy spending time with them and with my five grandchildren. I enjoy walking, hiking, playing music and spending time with friends
